Series History
The Spartans were perfect from the free throw line and
Barrett Herring tied and bested career-highs in her fourth consecutive game, but the USC Upstate women's basketball team fell on the road to Hampton University 60-40 in their last meeting on Jan. 14, 2020.
Herring led the Spartans across the stat line with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a tied career-high four blocks. She was 6-of-6 from the charity stripe for a career-high free throws made in a game, which made four consecutive games where she either tied or bested a career-high. As a team, USC Upstate was perfect from the free throw line as Logan was 2-of-2 from the line. Popplewell posted eight points and six rebounds, and the Spartans outrebounded the Pirates 40-35. Young led Hampton's offense with 19 points as Vanarsdale and Bates also scored in double-figures with 16 and 13 points, respectively. MaKayla Timmons contributed 12 assists.
Last time out
UPSTATE – USC Upstate is coming off a 71-64 road win against Charleston Southern on Tuesday to complete the season sweep of the Bucs. The Spartans used a crucial 15-0 run in the third quarter to cushion themselves through the rest of the second half.
Riley Popplewell finished the night with a full stat line pacing all scorers in the game with 21 points beside 18 rebounds, an assist, three steals, and two blocks.
Brianna Lewis also had a 20-point effort with four assists and a pair of steals.
Anda Kuzmina made her fifth consecutive start and finished with a season-high 14 points.
Hampton – The Pirates are coming off a 90-76 win against Longwood on Saturday. Hampton was a perfect 22-of-22 from the free throw line and Laren VanArsdale put up 31 points. Young posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while MaKayla Trimmons added 17 points and five assists.

Riley Popplewell is 69 points away from 1,000, and as the team's leading rebounder averaging 7.7 per game, is five boards shy of 700.
Brianna Lewis is Upstate's leading scorer with 14.7 points per game, and
Barrett Herring is averaging 1.6 blocks per game.
Hampton – VanArsdale leads the Pirates in scoring, averaging 15.1 points. She and Nylah Young, the team's leading rebounder, swept this week's Big South weekly awards.
Fan Experience
The Spartans will be honoring nine breast cancer survivors on the court before the game in conjunction with the Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute. The first 250 students in attendance will receive a free pink "Fight Like a Spartan" t-shirt thanks to Auden Upstate.
