SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team fell 81-45 to High Point University on Saturday afternoon inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
High Point (11-11, 9-4 BSC) opened the game on a 21-6 run against USC Upstate (7-15, 2-11 BSC) in the first quarter of action. The Spartans responded with a 14-point second quarter but trailed 42-20 going into the halftime intermission.
Brianna Lewis (Chicago, Ill.) led the Spartans with six-points in the opening half of play against the Panthers. Skyler Curran led all scorers with 13-points in the first half.
USC Upstate had their best quarter statistically, scoring 16-points on 54-percent shooting in the third quarter. Lewis scored 11-points in the third quarter as she tried to will the team back into the game. The Spartans were outscored by 9-points in the final quarter of action.

Upstate- Lewis ended the game with a team high 17-points.
Riley Popplewell contributed 10-points and
Barrett Herring recorded a 9-point, 8-rebound outing.
High Point – Camryn Brown led all scorers with 21-points, 8-rebounds and 8-assists on the afternoon. Curran ended with 18-points, Amaria McNear and Danielle Deoul ended with 15 and 11-points respectively.
UP next for the Spartans
The Spartans will hit the road this coming Tuesday night as they travel down to the coast of South Carolina to take on Charleston Southern.
