Series History
Tuesday's meeting between USC Upstate and Ohio marks the first in program history. The matchup features a pair of former Ohio State and Thad Matta assistants as Upstate head coach Dave Dickerson and Ohio head coach Jeff Boals spent six seasons on the Buckeye bench from 2010-2016.

Players to Watch
Upstate: After leading Upstate with a team-best 24.9 minutes per game while averaging 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, freshman guard Jalen Breazeale earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors the league announced Monday. Last time out versus Converse, he passed out a career-best four assists and swiped a career-high-tying two steals while adding seven points and three rebounds.
 
Ohio: Averaging 17.0 points per game this season, guard Mark Sears leads Ohio in scoring during non-conference play, posting double figures in all 10 games this season. He poured in a team-high 24 points against Marshall last Wednesday, his third 20-plus point outing of the season.
 
UP Next for the Spartans
Following Tuesday's final non-conference road game, Upstate returns home on Dec. 30 for one final non-conference home game. The Spartans host Columbia International for a 4 p.m. ET tip with the game airing on ESPN+.
