CHARLOTTE, N.C. - With the 2026 Air Force Reserve Big South Men's Basketball Championships on the horizon, the Big South Conference office officially announced All-Conference along with All-Academic teams. Two Spartans were recognized with one earning All-Conference and another earning All-Academic.
Honorable Mention Big South All-Conference Team: Karmani Gregory
The Redshirt Junior Guard from Palmetto, Florida continues stacking his collegiate resume as he was named Preseason All-Conference and finishes the season being named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team. Head Coach, Marty Richter saw the work being done behind the scenes following the 2024-25 season and knew Gregory would make the jump to lead Upstate for the following season. Gregory did exactly that leading Upstate with 15.8 points per game and scoring 20+ points on 10 different occasions. While making improvements on the side of scoring, Gregory's field goal percentage went from 40 to 41 percent as his patience to get to his spots on the court showed. Gregory followed with going from 27 percent to 32 percent from beyond the arc while being a factor at the charity stripe going from 68 percent to 76 percent. As a competitor on the court each game and his IQ that can help him takeover games, Karmani Gregory makes his way to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team, being the first Spartan named to All-Conference during the Marty Richter era. Gregory adds his second postseason award as he was named to the All-Academic Team following the 2024-25 season.
Big South All-Academic Team: Isaiah Skinner
The Senior from Hemet, California proved to be the student-athlete that could lead by example having over a 3.0 GPA while being the ultimate two-way player on the court for Upstate Men's Basketball. As a Psychology major and juggling the season, Isaiah Skinner was always described as a player who possesses high IQ along with his leadership style which helped him become beloved by his peers. While improving his numbers across the boards in every stat category, Skinner's impact in the classroom pushes him to his first postseason award as he comes to the final stages of his Spartan career. With his impressive resume of being the ultimate student-athlete, it will not be surprising that he could see more academic awards before he walks on the stage at graduation.
