SPARTANBURG, SC—The USC Upstate women's soccer team will take on the Winthrop Eagles at County University Soccer Stadium on Sunday evening.
USC Upstate (0-0-1, 0-0-1 BSC) and Winthrop (0-1, 0-1 BSC) are meeting for the sixth time in program history. Last season the Spartans traveled to Rock Hill, SC, where they were defeated 3-0 being outshot 19-5 in overall shots and 14-1 in shots on goal.
The Spartans ended their previous game of the season in a tie against the Longwood Lancers after going into double overtime. This tie put the Spartans in seventh place in the standings for the Big South Conference.
The loss for the Eagles comes from taking on the pre-season Big South Conference champions, High Point University. Currently the Eagles are tied for eighth with Charleston Southern and UNC Asheville in the standings.
