SPARTANBURG, SC—The USC Upstate women's soccer team will travel to Boiling Springs, NC, to take on Gardner-Webb University at Greene-Harbison Stadium on Wednesday morning.
USC Upstate (1-5-1, 1-5-1 BSC) and Gardner-Webb (2-4-2, 2-3-2 BSC) are meeting for the thirteenth time in program history. Last season the Bulldogs traveled to Spartanburg, SC, where they were defeated 2-3 after being outshot 22-9 in overall shots and 12-6 in shots on goal.
The Spartans previous contest was their final home game of the season and senior night where they gained their first win of the season 1-0 against Charleston Southern University. Though the Spartans were outshot 17-2 in overall shots and 7-2 in shots on goal, the Spartans managed to make the only goal of the game. The win allowed Upstate to move up to eighth place in the Big South standings.
The Bulldogs' last game against UNC Asheville was postponed. However, the game before that, Gardner-Webb lost to Campbell University 0-5. The Bulldogs are currently in sixth place in the Big South standings.
