SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate head men's basketball coach Dave Dickerson announced the signing of Floyd Rideau Jr (Lake Wales Fla.) on Friday morning.
"We are very excited to be adding Floyd Rideau Jr. to our program as a backcourt player with versatility and tremendous upside," Dickerson said. "We identified Floyd as a player coming out of high school as an under the radar prospect and coming off of a difficult COVID year at South Carolina State. Through it all, he has shown potential to shoot the ball at an elite level and add skill to our backcourt at all three levels on the offense and defensive end. He is a great kid, an excellent student and comes from an unbelievable family. We can't wait to get started with Floyd and the rest of the team on July 6th."
Rideau comes to USC Upstate from South Carolina State, where he made 17 appearances and made eight starts for the Bulldogs. The Sunshine State native averaged 19.5 minutes per game and shot at a .375 clip from beyond the arch. Rideau averaged 6.5 points per game, 2.4 rebounds per contest and 17 assists last season.
During his prep career, Rideau played AAU for the South Florida Elite and was coached former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson. Rideau made the Broward County All-Star Team and was selected to the All-Conference first team after he averaged 20 points per game, five assists and six rebounds. At United Prep, Rideau was coached by former Indiana University player Roderick Wilmont.
