Spartans to Watch
Mario Arrocha, who finished third in voting for the Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, scored Upstate's first goal of the season Saturday against Georgia State via a penalty kick in the 67th minute.
Xavi Wences and Alvaro Martin each made their first collegiate start on Saturday against Georgia State. Wences is tied with Elias Ehlin for the team lead in shots with four, and two of those have reached target. Martin has three shots on the year, also with two reaching the target.
Goalkeeper Luca Bulfon was one save shy of tying a career-high Saturday against Georgia State with seven saves.
Scouting the Opponent
College of Charleston remains unbeaten this season after stunning South Carolina 1-0 in overtime in the season opener, and most recently fighting Stetson to a 0-0 draw last weekend. Goalkeeper Cameron Smith has posted three straight shutout dating back to last season, going 387 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.
UP Next for the Spartans
The Spartans make the short strip to Greenville to face Furman on Saturday for the second match of a four-game road trip. The Spartans and Paladins will kick off at 7 p.m. Sept. 11.
