Volleyball Posts Eighth Double-Digit Block Match of Big South Play in Penultimate Match at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – On the road for the penultimate time for the team's penultimate game, USC Upstate volleyball recorded its eighth double-digit block match of the season with a 12-block effort Friday evening against Radford.

Despite registering double-figure team blocks for the second straight match and out-blocking the Highlanders, the Spartans fell in straight sets behind scores of 22-25, 18-25, and 18-25.

Leading the Upstate blocking effort versus Radford, junior middle blocker Nikki Deslatte tied a season-high with six block assists as she added a solo block to total seven blocks—one shy of her season high. Behind Deslatte with four total blocks apiece were sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Nicoll and freshman middle blocker Nya Browne who tied and set, respectively, a career-high in total blocks.

Behind the block, Upstate picked up 52 balls as two players collected double-figure digs. Sophomore libero Julia Gladhill led the Spartans with 14 digs, picking up 10-plus balls for the second straight match as freshman setter Savannah Page totaled 12 digs on the evening. Adding to her 12 digs, Page passed out 18 assists to post her sixth double-double of the season.

Offensively, junior right-side hitter Ali Jansen collected eight kills with just one error on 22 swings, crafting a .318 hitting efficiency. For Jansen, Friday's match marked the fifth of her last seven matches to see her post eight or more kills.

Behind Jansen on the kill leaderboard, senior right-side hitter Briana Strobert posted six kills to complement three total blocks. Deslatte and Nicoll slotted in behind Jansen and Strobert with three kills apiece.

In service, Gladhill and Page each notched a service ace, continuing a streak of 25 straight matches with a service ace.
