SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Opening the OneSpartanburg, Inc. Baseball Classic, USC Upstate baseball accomplished something it hadn't as a program since 2017, putting forth a 21-run outburst to capture the first game of the tournament 21-7 from Manhattan at Cleveland S. Harley Park.
Crooked numbers hung in the second (seven runs), the fifth (six runs), and the sixth (four runs) supplemented two-run innings in the fourth and the eighth to build to the 21-7 win with the team's 21 runs being the most since scoring 21 against Dayton on Feb. 25, 2017 (W, 21-20). The Spartans pounded out 20 hits Friday afternoon, the most since collecting 20 against UNC Asheville on May 20, 2021.
At the plate, senior second baseman
Cameron MacIntosh tied a career-high with four RBI—also tying a team single-game high—as he finished 3-for-4 on the afternoon, adding a double and three runs scored. Joining MacIntosh with multi-RBI efforts, senior first baseman
Devin Buckner and redshirt sophomore leftfielder
Noah Rabon each added two RBI apiece.

- As part of the team's 21-run outburst, each of the top four starters in the Spartans' lineup finished the day scoring three runs apiece.
- Making his USC Upstate debut, Al Holguin struck out the side in his lone inning of work Friday.
