Troy Hamilton Hits First Spartan Homer as Baseball Falls at No. 18 Georgia Tuesday

ATHENS, Ga. – Closing out a stretch of five games in five days and facing the team's first ranked foe during the 2022 season, USC Upstate baseball dropped its midweek contest to the No. 18 Georgia Bulldogs 15-3 Tuesday night at Foley Field in Athens, Ga.
 
Leading the way offensively for the Spartans, redshirt sophomore Troy Hamilton slugged his first home run in a Spartan uniform as he drove a pitch over the leftfield wall in the eighth inning, securing the lone multi-RBI game for Upstate.
 
Senior catcher Damon Maynard finished the afternoon with his third multi-hit effort of the season, finishing 2-for-2 at the plate.

  • Homering in the eighth inning, Troy Hamilton hit his first homer in a Spartan uniform. His homer makes him the sixth different player to homer this season and the third to hit his first long ball in an Upstate uniform.
  • Appearing in relief, freshman right-hander Ben Roberts and redshirt freshman righty Reilly Kirkpatrick each made their first career appearances as Spartans.
