Spartanburg S.C. - Upstate began the week with two solid wins over South Carolina State in a double-header on Tuesday afternoon. Game one finished with an 11-1 win in five innings while game two finished in a similar five inning fashion with only eight runs recorded and no hits surrendered.  

Alyssa Kelly started game one for Upstate pitching 4.0 innings, surrendering four hits, one walk, and one run as well as recording five strikeouts. Savannah Brown made her first appearance of the season to relieve Kelly in the fifth inning and recorded one walk and one strikeout. Hannah Houge took the mound in game two of the double-header, surrendering no hits in 5.0 innings and recording two walks and nine strikeouts.  

Peyton Darnell hit her ninth home run of the season in game two of the double-header. Darnell has hit five home runs in Upstate's last seven games and nears her career high of ten home runs. Freshman Alanna Deal hit her first career home run during game one of the double-header to give Upstate its final three runs of the game. Deal finished the day with two runs, two hits and three RBI as well as a 1.000 fielding percentage. 

Upstate recorded seven stolen bases on the day, two of which came from Sarah Price in game one. Price also had three runs, two hits, and one RBI. Along with Price Caroline Jacquay also posted two stolen bases on the day as well as one run, two hits and two RBI   

Both Upstate and Campbell go into the weekend with a 2-1 Big South Conference record. Upstate's two wins and one loss came last week during its double-header with Longwood University on Friday and Saturday.  

Campbell is coming of a 2-1 series win against Charleston Southern last weekend on the road to start its Big South Conference play. The Camels fell 4-1 on Saturday but were able to pull out two wins (5-4, 3-1) in the double-header on Sunday.  

Players to Watch:      

USC Upstate (22-2, 2-1):      

Hannah Houge proves to be an essential part of the Upstate line-up when on the mound as she boasts a 14-1 record going into this weekend. She achieved her first career no-hitter against S.C. State. Houge has pitched for a total 80.1 innings, surrendering 54 hits, 20 runs and 24 walks while striking out 110 batters, earning herself a 1.48 ERA. 

Peyton Darnell boasts a 1.166 batting average and a .769 slugging percentage along with leading the team in home runs (9), RBI (33) and total bases (50). Madison Lanoux leads Upstate with 25 runs and 34 hits.  

Campbell (13-7, 2-1):   

Claudia Ware has started all of Campbell's 20 contests as an outfielder. Ware is ranked third on the team in batting average (.316) and second in slugging percentage (.474) while having recorded 14 runs, 18 hits, 1 home run, seven RBI, and 27 total bases.
