Cameron MacIntosh Comes Through Late for the Second Time in the Series, Delivering Baseball to a 5-4 Victory and a Series Sweep over Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. – Going for the series sweep after claiming a pair of one-run victories to open the first Big South series of the season, USC Upstate baseball secured its first series sweep of the year behind a third consecutive one-run win, downing Presbyterian 5-4 in another late-inning victory Sunday afternoon.

As had become the trend in the series, Upstate fell behind early, trailing 4-0 heading into the fifth before battling back to tie the game with four equalizing runs in the fifth inning. For the third straight game, the Spartans took the lead in the seventh inning or later as for the second time this weekend senior second baseman Cameron MacIntosh drove in the go-ahead run, coming through with an RBI double in the seventh.

Tossing a career-long 3.1 innings in relief of starter right-hander Trey Miller, freshman left-hander Al Holguin allowed just two hits to the Blue Hose to pick up his first career victory. The win comes after he collected his first career save earlier this week, pitching a then career-long 2.2 innings against Cincinnati last Monday.

Cameron MacIntosh capped the inning with a double to right that brought home the inning's final run and tied the game.
