SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Following up an eight-run outburst in game one of its weekend series, USC Upstate baseball tallied a pair of five-plus run innings to claim a series victory over Charleston Southern behind a 13-8 victory Friday night.
Carrying its momentum from game one, Upstate jumped on the board first with a six-run frame before adding a five-spot in the third to build an 11-0 lead, scoring 19 unanswered runs to open the series. Charleston Southern dominated the middle innings, plating a run in the fourth, four in the fifth, and one in the sixth as the Spartans answered with a pair of runs in the fifth. The Buccaneers closed the scoring on the game with a pair of runs in the eighth.

Grant Sherrod led the way offensively as each produced a three-RBI and multi-hit game. For MacIntosh, Friday's game marked his third multi-hit game and sixth multi-RBI game while Sherrod's night stands as his first such game in both categories this year.
