SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Looking to remain undefeated against teams from The Holy City, USC Upstate baseball couldn't continue its streak against teams from Charleston as the Spartans fell in extra-innings Tuesday night against College of Charleston at Cleveland S. Harley Park.
 
Despite seeing the Cougars jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the second, the Spartans were unfazed as they crafted their 13^th inning with five or more runs with a five-spot in the home half of the inning to build an early lead. Charleston got a run back in the third before Upstate added another tally in the seventh. The Cougars added a run in the eighth and four more in the ninth to take a 7-6 lead with the Spartans battling back in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras. Pushing across a run in the top of the 10th, Charleston came away with the extra-inning win.
 
At the plate, redshirt sophomore rightfielder Grant Sherrod finished with Upstate's lone multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 while collecting a multi-RBI game with two runs batted in. For Sherrod, the game marked his third consecutive multi-hit game and his second multi-RBI game over the last three games. Senior second baseman Cameron MacIntosh also tallied a multi-RBI game with two RBI Tuesday.
 
On the mound, the relief duo of redshirt freshman left-hander Christian Williams and senior right-hander Kevin Davis combined for 4.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one this and two walks between them.

• T2: Hopping on the board first Tuesday night, College of Charleston employed a squeeze to bring in its first run as Cam Dean brought home Preston Hall with a bunt up the first baseline.
• B2: Answering the Cougars' run, the Spartans produced their 13^th five-plus run inning with a five-spot in the bottom of the second. Adam Grob brought home the first run as he walked with the bases loaded before Grant Sherrod and Devin Buckner followed with a two-run and RBI single, respectively. A fielder's choice off the bat of Noah Myers pushed across the final run of the inning.
• T3: Getting a run back, Charleston's JT Marr single back up the middle to send Trotter Harlan home and make it 5-2 in favor of Upstate.
• B7: Picking up a run of insurance, the Spartans added another tally as Cameron MacIntosh drew a walk with the bases loaded.
• T8: Using a sac fly off the bat of Tanner Steffy, Charleston drew closer as Marr came into score.
• T9: Battling back to tie the game, the Cougars plated four runs in the top of the ninth behind a two-run homer from Tanner McCallister and RBI singles from Landon Choboy and Joseph Mershon.
• B9: Battling back to tie the game, MacIntosh drove in his second run as Buckner came home on a fielder's choice.
• T10: Taking advantage of a passed ball, Sam Cochrane raced home to score the go-ahead run.

 
Notable

• Over his last three games, Grant Sherrod has produced three multi-hit efforts, collecting two hits in each game. With two RBI against College of Charleston, he produced his second multi-RBI game over the last three games.
• Adding two more runs batted in Tuesday night, Cameron MacIntosh has collected a multi-RBI game in each of the last three games. For the season, he has fashioned eight multi-RBI contests.
• Reaching with a single to left in the ninth inning, Noah Sullivan extended his team-long reached base streak to 21 games.
