FARMVILLE, Va. – After capturing its series with Longwood with yesterday afternoon's victory, USC Upstate baseball entered Sunday afternoon looking for its third straight Big South series sweep and exited the day with just that behind an 11-1 win.
For the third time on the weekend, Upstate saw each member of its starting lineup collect a hit as six Spartans recorded multi-hit efforts for the second consecutive game. Leading the group, senior catcher
Devin Buckner tied a career-high with four hits, going 4-for-6 with three runs scored. Senior second baseman
Cameron MacIntosh tied a career-high with his third two-double game of the year while senior rightfielder
Noah Myers kept the Spartans' home run streak alive, pushing it to 11 games with his fifth homer over the past seven games.
On the mound, senior right-hander
Jacob Curry turned in another outstanding start, collecting his fourth quality start of the season as he worked 7.2 innings while only allowing four hits and one run. He struck out three batters and allowed just one baserunner into scoring position all afternoon. In relief, senior righty
Kevin Davis retired four of the five batters he faced over 1.1 innings, permitting a lone baserunner on a walk.
