SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Well, he called it.
It was a night of firsts for the Upstate Spartans. The first goal of
Peyton Pressley's young Spartan career came at the expense of the Wofford Terriers. It was also the first goal of
Julian Fernandez's career…and the first goal of
Xavi Wences' career… and the first assist of
Braiden Hall's career. You get the idea at this point. The Spartans hung four goals on the Wofford Terriers and walked away with their first win of the season.
Game Information
Score: Upstate 4 | Wofford 2

How It Happened
13' - The Terriers took the first three shots of the night, but it was the Spartans who found the back of the net first thanks to the freshman duo of
Peyton Pressley and
Braiden Hall. Braiden squeezed a pass through congestion in front of the net to Peyton, who took advantage of a goalkeeper being caught out of position.
44' – It was a quiet first half after the first goal, until
Xavi Wences connected with
Jeremy Montero for their first assists and goal of the season. Montero had just substituted in and used his fresh legs to push the attack.
48' – Upstate took a 3-0 lead early in the second half thanks to a
Xavi Wences goal off a
Peyton Pressley pass. It was Xavi's first goal of his career and Peyton's first assist.
81' and 85' – Wofford didn't go quietly into the night, rattling off two late goals in rapid succession to make it interesting again…
87' - … but it was
Julian Fernandez who slammed the door on the Terrier comeback attempt, scoring Upstate's fourth goal of the night thanks to
Brody Williams and
Braiden Hall.
