Spartans Heating UP as Men's Soccer Defends Home Against College of Charleston

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Starting to string them together now

The city of Spartanburg has been kind to Upstate so far this season, as the Spartans are celebrating back-to-back wins after sending College of Charleston back home with a loss.

Game Information
Score: Upstate 2 | CoC 1
Records: Upstate (2-4-1, 0-0-0 Big South); CoC (2-2-2, 2-0-1 CAA)
Location: County University Soccer Stadium; Spartanburg, S.C.

How it Happened
31' – It was an eventful first half, as both teams were ripping shots for the first 45, but Upstate struck first. Jeremy Montero found the back of the net after fighting through contact in the box.
38' – Charleston wasn't going to go easily and they rallied quickly to find a goal of their own. Both teams went into the break tied at 1.
73' – Charleston kept the pressure on Upstate throughout the second half, firing 13 total shots in the direction of Luca Bulfon, but Brody Williams and the Spartans took the shot that mattered. Williams took a pass from Fabian Dietrich and won a footrace with two Cougars, forcing a one-on-one matchup with Charleston's keeper. A nifty bit of footwork made short work of the defender and Williams gave the Spartans the game-winner.

Notable
-Jeremy Montero has found paydirt in back-to-back games, scoring his second goal of the season against Charleston
-He also scored the first Upstate goal in the young series with Charleston
-Brody Williams scored his first point (an assist) against Wofford, but notched his first goal of the season against Charleston
-Fabian Dietrich recorded his first point of the season, assisting with Williams' game-winner
