Spartans Head to Greenville to Play the Paladins in a Mid-Week Match Up

Series History  
USC Upstate and Furman have squared off a total of eight times since their first clash back in 2008 which ended in a 1-0 loss for the Spartans. Upstate most recently took on the Paladins in 2017 when Upstate fell 6-1 in Greenville, S.C.  

Players to Watch 

Dara Russo leads USC Upstate's offense with 14 shots and eight shots on goal while Nya Baccelli sits just behind her with nine shots on goal. Campbell Gibson leads the Spartans in points (3) with one goal and one assist on the season. Cora Brendle has started all five matches for the Spartans and notched 21 saves so far.  

Last Match   

Upstate most recently traveled to Charleston, S.C. to play The Citadel on Friday afternoon. The Spartans fell 3-0 to the Bulldogs after the full 90. Alaina McKnight led Upstate with two shots on goal while Emily Sanders had two shots as well. Despite The Citadel having more shots than Upstate (11-7), Upstate led the game with shots on goal (6-5).  

Furman most recently fell 3-0 to South Carolina on Sunday afternoon. The Paladins were led by Nieva Gaither who had two shots on goal and Madison Luckett who had one shot. Junior goalkeeper, Addison Corn made three saves for Furman and played the full 90.  

    
 
UP Next for the Spartans  

After Upstate plays Furman, the Spartans will once again depart from Spartanburg to play VMI on Saturday, Sept. 17th and then will commence Big South Conference play starting with High Point on Wednesday, Sept. 21st.
