How They Stack UP
USC Upstate (3-4-2, 0-1-1 Big South) at Furman (5-3-1, 1-0-0 SoCon) with two common opponents between the teams in Winthrop and Coastal Carolina. The Paladins went 2-0 against both teams, picking up a 2-1 win against Winthrop and a 3-0 shutout over Coastal. The Spartans went 0-1-1 against the two with a 0-1 loss in Conway and a 1-1 tie at Rock Hill.

Furman leads the overall series 6-1-2, but the most recent matchup was a 0-0 tie in Spartanburg last season. The last time the Spartans went to Greenville, they came back with a 3-2 victory over the Paladins.

Players to Watch
Jeremy Montero and Cooper Jennings are the reigning Big South Offensive and Freshman of the Week respectively and both Spartans will look to continue making impact plays when they can. Sophomore Braiden Hall is starting to find his groove this season as he has picked up two goals over the last three matches, while taking 11 shots (6 SOG) during that same span.
As for the Paladins, keep an eye on playmaker Christian Kraus, who leads the team in goals (4) and points (12) and is tied for the team lead in assists (4). The redshirt junior also leads Furman in shots and shots on goal. In goal, freshman Aaron Salinas has taken over, starting the last six matches.
Last Time Out:
The Spartans earned their first point in Big South play after battling to a 1-1 draw in Rock Hill with the Winthrop Eagles.
Furman picked up their first SoCon win of the year against UNCG in the form of a 1-0 shutout win at home.
