Russo's First Career Hat Trick Earns Upstate Women's Soccer's Second Big South Weekly Honor of the Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore forward, Dara Russo earned her first Big South honor of the 2023 season as she was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the Big South Conference. The honor is the second Big South weekly honor that USC Upstate has collected during the 2023 season and the fourth of Russo's career.

Russo made her 10th and 11th starts as Upstate's center forward and played a combined 124 minutes this week against Winthrop and Gardner-Webb. She started the week with the first hat trick of her career with three goals, one game winning, and an assist against Winthrop on Wednesday. Against Gardner-Webb she remained a threat on offense, posting two shots and one shot on goal. Russo totaled three goals, one game winning goal, one assist, seven points, 11 shots, and eight shots on goal. Her performance helps her to continue to lead the conference for goals, shots, shots on goal, and points. With the Big South, Russo's performance against Winthrop was the number of points earned in a single game (7), most shots in a single game (9), and is tied with Radford for most goals in a single game (3).

UP Next for the Spartans
Upstate will remain on the road to play the Panthers of High Point University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in North Carolina, and finish the week hosting the Highlanders of Radford Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
