Series History
Tuesday's meeting between USC Upstate and Elon marks the first meeting between the two programs in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.). The two programs had met 19 times with Elon leading the series 11-8 with each meeting coming prior to 1997. This season, Upstate owns a 3-0 record against teams from the Colonial Athletic Association, sweeping Towson on opening weekend.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Hitting .462 with four of his six hits going for extra bases, redshirt junior first baseman Grant Sherrod led Upstate at the plate in a three-game sweep of High Point. He drove home seven RBI with a pair of doubles and home runs as he hit his fourth and fifth long balls of the season and upped his team-high RBI total to 29. He enters the midweek, hitting .333 with 13 extra-base hits, leading the Spartans in slugging percentage and homers.
 
Elon: Driving home 19 runs this season, first baseman Cole Reynolds leads a group of eight Phoenix players with double-digit RBI this season. He enters Tuesday's game with a .278 average and eight extra-base hits as he's the lone Elon player to start all 24 games this season. He also doubles as the team's midweek starter, pitching in five games, posting a 1-2 record and 7.58 ERA this season.
 
Up Next for the Spartans
After wrapping up its five-game road trip Tuesday, the Spartans return to Cleveland S. Harley Park for their first Big South home series. Upstate hosts Winthrop for a three-game set Friday through Sunday with game times set for 4 p.m., 2 p.m., and 1 p.m. ET.
