Series History
Entering the weekend's three-game set, USC Upstate and James Madison have met just one prior time in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.). The two programs met in a single game on February 26, 2017, with the Dukes outlasting the Spartans in a 2-1 win. Charlie Carpenter drove home the lone Upstate run in the loss.

Pitcher: Tossing 2.0 hitless and scoreless innings in the series finale at Troy Sunday, sophomore right-hander
Noah Sullivan recorded his fifth scoreless outing to start the 2023 season, doing so over 10.1 innings of work this season. Dating back to last season, he's thrown 14.1 consecutive scoreless innings as he owns eight career scoreless outings. On the year, he's held opponents to a .118 batting average as he's surrendered four hits and allowed nine baserunners while striking out 11 hitters.

Position Player: Singling in his first at-bat and hitting a solo homer in his second, redshirt junior shortstop
Troy Hamilton notched his fifth multi-hit game of the season, tying Sullivan for the team lead. Over his past four games, he's recorded three multi-hit games for the Spartans, hitting .400 over the span. He enters the weekend leading Upstate in hits and runs scored with 17 and 16, respectively, as he also ties for the team lead in extra-base hits and stolen bases.

James Madison
Pitcher: Entering out of the bullpen on four occasions for the Dukes, right-hander Kevin Scully has earned a pair of relief wins for James Madison this season as he's tied for the team lead in victories. He's earned his victories against Cornell, going 3.0 scoreless innings while allowing one hit, and versus George Washington, tossing 1.0 scoreless inning while surrendering two hits. On the year, he's tossed 6.2 innings and holds a 10.80 earned run average.

Position Player: Leading James Madison at the plate, outfielder Fenwick Trimble ranks top-10 in the NCAA in runs batted in, driving home 24 on the season, including multiple games driving home four or more runs like he did Wednesday versus VCU. He also enters the weekend ranked third in the country in doubles with eight, sitting one off the national lead.
