Troy Hamilton Homers For Third Time This Season as Baseball Drops Game at Fluor Field Against No. 20 South Carolina

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Facing a ranked opponent for the first time in nearly a calendar year and seeking the team's third Power-Five win of the season, USC Upstate baseball fell Wednesday night at Fluor Field as No. 20 South Carolina walked away with a 19-1 win.

The Gamecocks struck early, putting crooked numbers on the board in the second and third, taking the momentum and forcing the Spartans to craft a comeback. South Carolina took advantage of timely hitting throughout the night and of 15 free bases while holding Upstate to seven scattered hits.

Of the Spartans' seven hits on the night, the biggest came off the bat of redshirt junior Troy Hamilton as he belted a 369-foot solo shot over the Green Monster in leftfield to put Upstate on the board. The homer marked his third of the season, tying for the team lead, and was part of a multi-hit effort. Sophomore designated hitter Noah Sullivan collected the Spartans' other multi-hit game.
