Players to Watch
Upstate has had five different Spartans record goals so far this season: Russo, Blodget, Armstrong, Finn, and Sapinoro. Armstrong is the only Spartan to tally more than one goal so far after she scored against Wofford College on Thursday to keep the Spartans' fight alive. Armstrong and Russo lead the team stats with six shots each.
Furman has also seen five players score their first goals of the season: Mosquera, Farr, Gaither, Galie, and Roller. Mosquera is the standout Paladin as she has three goals under her belt after scoring one goal in each of Furman's contests. The junior leads the team with six points, six shots, and four shots on goal.
Last Match
The Spartans received their first loss of the 2023 season on Thursday night, after falling 2-1 to Wofford College. Despite the Terriers scoring first, the Spartans were able to score the equalizing goal with roughly 60 minutes remaining in the match. Unfortunately, a goal for Wofford in the 55th minute would be the deciding factor.
The Paladins have had a solid start so far to their 2023 season as they enter the contest with a 3-0 record. Furman most recently downed the Crusaders of North Greenville 4-0 on Thursday. The victory came after a penalty kick goal in the send minute followed by goals in the 28th, 49th, and 89th minutes of play.
