SPARTANBURG, SC – Senior Alexis Rieli led the USC Upstate women's golf team with a top-10 finish at the Terrier Intercollegiate held at the Carolina Country Club, where the Spartans finished 10th overall. Rieli posted scores of 81-73-75 for a total of 229, climbing into 8th place after a solid third round, in which she birdied or parred the front nine.
Head Coach Todd Lawton praised Rieli's resilience, saying, "I'm excited about the effort Alexis gave for this tournament. She had a rough start in several rounds but fought hard for us and her team. It was a nice finish for her to be in the top 10."
Sophomore Supatta Puttanavarat also had a solid showing, finishing 40th with rounds of 76-85-81 for a total of 242. Rylie Kosney showed improvement across each round, carding 87-82-80 for a total of 249. Grace Garner (58th) and Madison Dixon (59th) both finished in the top 60 with scores of 252 and 253, respectively. Eliza Whiteside, competing as an independent, lowered her score in every round, finishing with a total of 254 strokes.
The Spartans posted team scores of 321-322-318, finishing with a combined score of 961.
Samford sophomore Gabi Nicastro cruised to the individual title, posting rounds of 73-68-68 for a total of 209, finishing seven under par. She finished nine strokes ahead of the nearest competitor. Samford also claimed the team title with a three-round score of 904 (308-299-297), topping the 13-team field. Queens University of Charlotte secured second place with a final score of 915 (304-307-304).
