Series: This is the first meeting between the teams. Upstate is in their first NCAA Tournament appearance, while UNC is making their 43rd straight appearance.

Players to Watch
Upstate: For the first time in program history, the Spartans claimed both the Big South Regular Season title and the Tournament title. Leading the offense is Big South Offensive Player of the Year Dara Russo. She has nine goals and five assists for 23 points, leading the team in shots with 55. Nya Baccelli adds eight goals, putting up 26 shots on target. Paige Armstrong has found the back of the net six times, adding four assists. The backline continues to be a force for the Spartans, anchored by Catarina Dantas. Goalkeeper Meghan Groah has collected 43 saves.

UNC: Kate Faasse leads the Tar Heels in goals with 16. Following her is Bella Sember with seven goals, three assists, and 60 shots. Olivia Thomas adds five goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Clare Gagne has 57 saves on the season.
