Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – With its first conference games in the book, USC Upstate stepped away from Big South opponents to rematch the Wofford Terriers and walked away with a 6-1 win on Wednesday night.
After two scoreless innings, the Terriers got on the board in the bottom of the third off a single to the shortstop. The Spartans were quick to respond with four runs in the top of the fourth starting with Denver Lauer reaching home off a pass ball. Alanna Deal built off of Lauer's momentum and tallied two more runs for Upstate with a single hit up the middle. Deal came home shortly after as pinch hitter Emily Stern found space through the right side. Despite a scoreless fifth inning for both teams, Upstate was able to score one run in each of the last two innings for a 6-1 finish. Pinch runner Lex Difato scored Upstate's one run in the sixth as she sprinted home off Amie Johnson's single up the middle. Lauer scored her second run of the game in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch. Maddie Drerup made her eighth start of the season in the circle for the Spartans and finished the day with two strikeouts after 7.0 innings pitched. Drerup threw her third complete game against the Terriers on Wednesday night and advances to 4-5 on the season.

T7: After getting walked to first, stealing second, and advancing to third during Thomas' at bat, Lauer came home to score the final run of the game off a wild pitch (6-1).
