Back to Big South Business, Upstate Softball Heads to Clinton to Take on Presbyterian College

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Following a successful trip to Cullowhee, USC Upstate softball resumes Big South competition with a three-game series against Presbyterian College, set to begin Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Clinton, S.C.

Players to Watch 

USC Upstate: The Spartans began the week with two more Big South weekly honors as freshman Sierra Maness was named Pitcher of the Week and senior Celeste Delorenzo was named Big South Player of the Week. Denver Lauer continues to lead the Spartans' offense with 24 runs, 34 hits, four doubles, four homeruns, 24 RBI, 50 total bases, and 28 stolen bases along with a .318 batting average, .467 slugging percentage, and a .403 on base percentage. Maness leads the pitching staff with 11 wins, 115.0 innings pitched, 94 strikeouts and a 2.19 ERA.  

Presbyterian: The Blue Hose most recently dropped the Big South series against the Bucs of Charleston Southern after taking game one 4-3 before falling 6-3 in game two and 4-1 in game three. Kasey Wolfe leads Presbyterian with 12 runs, 34 hits, seven doubles, two homeruns, 20 RBI, 47 total bases, and two stolen bases along with a .309 batting average, .427 slugging percentage, and .417 on base percentage. Wolfe leads the Presbyterian pitching staff with a 3.23 ERA while Jenna Greene assists with a 3.31 ERA. Greene sits with seven wins, 110.0 innings pitched, 106 strikeouts and seven complete games thrown. 

 
 
Up Next for the Spartans 

Upstate will get ready to take on No. 8 Georgia on Wednesday evening before resuming conference play hosting Gardner-Webb in the final Big South series of the season at Cyrill stadium Friday and Saturday.
