Upstate: The Spartans begin the 2024 regular season with exhibition games against Elon and Charlotte but will commence regular season play against the Royals. Upstate returns 18 players, nine of which were key pieces in last year's semifinal run. 2023 Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Dara Russo returns in hopes of another strong season after leading not only Upstate but the Big South in goals shots, shots per game, points, points per game, goals, and goals per game. Coach Saber also returns senior forward Nya Baccelli who was just behind Russo in all of the formerly mentioned categories, except shots per game. Paige Armstrong, Audrey Baer, and Margret Edda Bjarnadottir return to occupy Saber's midfield while Adrianna Pepe, Savannah Noll, Hailey Sapinoro, Emily Rangel and Catarina Dantas (formerly Bastos) all return to hold down the Spartans' backline.
Queens: The Royals began the season with a lone exhibition at Wofford last week but like the Spartans, will begin the regular season on Thursday night. Queens returns leading goal scorer, Lucie Platt, as well as Maddy Leon, who helped lead the Royals' offense as well. Last season Queens went 4-7-8 overall including going 2-3-6 in conference play.
