Players to Watch  

Upstate: Upstate collected its first victory of the season on home soil after Friday's home match was ended early due to weather, with the Spartans leading 4-1. Dara Russo stole the show as she scored what would go on to be the game winning goal in the 33rd minute of play, while also being credited with two assists. Russo's performance against the Keydets was enough to earn her Big South Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. Nya Baccelli notched her fourth goal of the season in Friday's home contest; Paige Armstrong scored her first goal of the season as well while Morgan de Barros scored her first career goal. Meghan Groah played all 76 minutes in the net for the Spartans and kept a clean sheet for 72 minutes of the match. Groah collected a career-high five saves on nine shots faced.  

College of Charleston: The Cougars are off to a strong start with a 5-1 overall record to kick off the 2024 season. The College of Charleston's sole loss so far this season was a 4-1 fall to the South Carolina Gamecocks in late August. In the Cougars' most recent win to remain undefeated at home, Bubbles Denver and Faith Slimmer tallied one goal respectively to push the College of Charleston to a 2-0 victory over North Dakota. Savannah Barron played the full 90 minutes in the net for the Cougars and made two saves on 10 shots faced for her third solo shutout of the season.

Upstate will finish the week with a short drive to Greenville, S.C. where the Spartans will play the Paladins of Furman University Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2:00 p.m.
