SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Facing the Charleston Southern Buccaneers at home, USC Upstate women's soccer kept its unbeaten conference streak alive, defeating the Buccaneers 2-1 in a comeback victory.
Each team traded shots in the first half but failed to find the back of the net. Out of the halftime break, Charleston Southern scored first. Seven minutes later,
Paige Armstrong cleaned up a scramble in the box to net the equalizer. The Spartans struck again within two minutes of their first goal, when
Hannah Johnson netted her second goal of the season off assists from
Paige Armstrong and
Adrianna Pepe.
Caroline Simpkins and
Hannah Johnson each had two shots, both on target.
Savannah Noll added two shots, one on goal, followed by
Morgan de Barros with a shot on target.

How It Happened
1st Half: Charleston Southern drew a penalty corner three minutes into the match, followed by a shot that was saved by
Madison Ejgird.
Caroline Simpkins had the first scoring opportunity for Upstate at the 11-minute mark, but her shot was saved by the keeper.
Savannah Noll took a shot, sending it just high of the goal.
Morgan de Barros fired off a shot in the last five minutes of the half, but it was saved by the Charleston Southern keeper.
2nd Half: Out of the break, the Buccaneers netted their lone goal of the night.
Savannah Noll tried to find the answer, but her shot was saved.
Caroline Simpkins added her second shot on goal, also saved by the keeper.
Riley O'Bryan sent a shot wide left.
Paige Armstrong netted the equalizer at the 53-minute mark. Two minutes later,
Hannah Johnson scored the go-ahead goal off a passing sequence from
Adrianna Pepe and
Paige Armstrong. Charleston Southern rattled off a shot at the 68 minute-mark, but defender
Catarina Dantas made a big-time save to keep the Spartans in the lead.
Madison Ejgird collected her second save of the night at the 77-minute mark.
