CLINTON, S.C. – Making the 40-minute drive to Clinton, USC Upstate women's soccer faced the Presbyterian Blue Hose this evening. The match proved to be an exciting one with the Spartans battling from behind for the 3-2 victory.
The first half started quickly, with
Riley O'Bryan heading the ball into the net off a pass from
Savannah Noll. O'Bryan had three shots, all of them on target.
Out of the halftime break,
Audrey Baer found the equalizer at the 56
th-minute mark, marking her first goal of the season.
Caroline Simpkins netted her first career goal from distance to put the Spartans ahead with just 18 minutes remaining in the match.
Paige Armstrong led the team in shots with four, two being on goal.
Dara Russo added two shots, one on goal.

How It Happened
1st Half: Riley O'Bryan netted her sixth goal of the season three minutes in, assisted by
Savannah Noll. Four minutes later, Presbyterian evened the match at 1-1.
Riley O'Bryan took aim at the goal 30 seconds later, but her shot was saved.
Paige Armstrong sent a shot wide left. The Blue Hose found the go-ahead goal at the 18-minute mark.
Dara Russo and
Hannah Johnson each fired off shots before the half ended.
2nd Half: Upstate started attacking early when
Paige Armstrong sent a shot wide at the 46-minute mark.
Emily Rangel sent her shot wide left, followed by another Armstrong shot that was saved.
Audrey Baer netted the equalizer at the 55
th minute. The Spartans rattled off four more shots before
Caroline Simpkins scored the go-ahead goal at the 72-minute mark.
Marley Gerber made her fourth save of the night with 15 minutes left in the match, keeping the Spartans ahead.
