BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Entering a new week, Upstate Men's Soccer took the pitch for their final midweek non-conference match traveling to Campbell University where the Spartans fell to the Fighting Camels with a final score of 3-2.
Opening the first five minutes, Campbell used the numbers advantage to put the Spartans in a bind entering the scoring column with the first goal. Upstate did not fall far behind in the battle as Oskar Kaufmann displayed his offensive masterclass, tying the match with a goal marking his sixth on the season. As the half continued, both opponents continued to take their attempts on goal but the score remained one apiece going into the half. The second half jumped into the Fighting Camels favor as a foul in the box resulted in a successful penalty kick to put Campbell back in the lead at 52nd minute. Campbell added to their lead with another goal scored at the 57th minute looking to continue their offensive firepower. The Spartans continued to show grit as Mikey Gropper was able to get the offense started with a touch to Luke Marin resulting in Caedon Reynolds scoring his second collegiate goal bringing the deficit to one. As the offense continued to be aggressive, Josh Zawlocki looked to go for the equalizer with a shot on goal which bounced off the post. Campbell held off the Spartans last minute comeback for the win on their home field.
