Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Senior Infielder, Alanna Deal has continued to be a Swiss army knife for Upstate Softball starting 23 games at shortstop and four games at third base. Deal continues to provide championship experience along with senior leadership helping the Spartans to a hot start through the season. When Upstate needs a hit, the Senior from Whiteville, North Carolina can be depended upon to get on base whether if she is being walked, an electrifying hit to the outfield, or sending out the park for a home run. Alanna Deal is prepared to contribute no matter where is on defense in the infield and does not let the ball get past her sight. Deal currently bats at .342 with 25 hits, seven doubles, 18 RBIs, and two home runs. Presbyterian will look to find ways to contain Alanna Deal through the three-game weekend series.
Presbyterian: The Sophomore Infielder, Kasey Wolfe has led the Blue Hose in the batting and pitching category through 26 games. At bat, Wolfe bats .416 with 32 hits, 18 runs, three home runs, and seven doubles. In the circle, Wolfe leads with a 2.82 ERA with a 4-5 record while striking out 41 batters in 62.0 innings. In the win against Furman, Wolfe went three-for-four at bat while striking out two batters with zero runs given up. Kasey Wolfe will be a key piece to Presbyterian's success and will look to put the Spartans in a bind to open Big South play.
