How It Happened
- T1: Striking first, Radford tallied a pair in the opening frame, taking advantage of Upstate miscues defensively. The first tally resulted from a dropped fly ball in center before a mishandled ground ball turned fielder's choice led to the second.
- T3: Utilizing both small ball and the long ball to score thrice in the third frame. A squeeze executed by Tyler Sparrer produced the first with a two-run blast from Noah Toole capping the three-run frame.
- B3: Behind three run-producing hits, Upstate got back the three surrendered runs from the prior half-inning. Vance Sheahan drove in the first with a single through the left side, Tyler Lang the second with a single to left-center, and Johnny Sweeney the third with a double down the rightfield line.
- T4: The Highlanders hung three more on the board in the fourth as James Ward slugged a three-run shot to left.
- T5: Taking advantage of three Upstate errors and a passed ball in the inning, Radford added five runs in the fifth.
- B6: With a pair of runners in scoring position, Cayden Wotipka drove home Scott Campbell from third via groundout.
- B7: Plating another tally, Brady Small picked up an RBI as he ripped a single through the right side.
- B8: Leading off the inning, Devlin Smalanskas launched an opposite-field solo homer to right-center.
- B9: Splitting the gap and hitting the wall in left-center, Tyler Lang drove in the final run with a double.
Notable
- Committing seven errors Sunday, Upstate tied the program record for defensive miscues, the third time in program history with seven errors. The total is the highest since committing seven versus The Citadel on March 10, 2010.
- Radford's sweep of Upstate marks the first time Upstate has been swept in Big South Conference play since April 8-10, 2022, at the hands of Campbell. It also marks the first sweep in league play at Cleveland S. Harley Park since May 14-15, 2021, also against Campbell.
