SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Returning to the field for the final weekend of the regular season, USC Upstate Softball will host Longwood for the final conference weekend series pf the year between the two opponents. Upstate looks to continue their seven-game winning streak while continuing their series streak over the Lancers.

Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Junior Outfielder, Taliyah Thomas has continued to shatter her previous numbers while being ranked the #1 player in the NCAA as the hardest player to strikeout. During the week of April 14-19th, Thomas went 6-for-13, two RBIs, three stolen bases, one sacrifice fly, five runs scored and one triple. Thomas has continued to let her impact be felt on opposing teams with a .408 on-base percentage followed 1.000 fielding percentage. Thomas currently has 20 more hits in this season than in her sophomore year where she is tied #1 in the Big South with 62 hits. The approach for the Junior from Iron Station, North Carolina is to continue playing and be consistent to help the Spartans win at all costs. The Lancers will have a challenge of trying to contain Thomas as she is a player that can bring energy.
Longwood: The Redshirt sophomore from Brandon, Mississippi, Maryanna Guy has fired away with an eight-game hitting streak that has put opposing pitchers in a bind including her fifth multi-hit game in the game against Queens which helped the Lancers win in nine innings against Queens. Guy currently leads the Lancers with nine home runs while adding 24 hits, two doubles, 10 runs scored, 25 runs batted in, and one stolen base. The pitching staff of USC Upstate will look to snap the hitting streak of Maryanna Guy.
Up Next for the Spartans
Following the three-game series against Longwood, Upstate will begin preparing for the 2025 Big South Softball Championships beginning May 7th-May 10th in Clinton, South Carolina hosted by Presbyterian College. Seedings for the Big South Tournament are scheduled to be announced on May 3rd.
