SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Meeting for the first time since the 2024 Big South Championship, the Spartans return to the Hawkins Field at Cyrill Stadium to host an anticipated weekend series in Big South Conference play, welcoming Winthrop University beginning Friday, April 4th and wrapping up with a doubleheader Saturday, April 5th.

Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Denver Lauer continues to build her legendary resume with USC Upstate Softball with her best statistical year to date through 36 games played. Lauer is second on the team with a .393 batting average including her season-high against Radford in game two going 4-for-5 at bat. Lauer is on pace to have a career-high in hits currently at 48 with her best year being her sophomore season with 59. Lauer adds 34 runs scored, five home runs, a 44 RBI season (Career high), .598 slugging percentage, and 15 stolen bases. Winthrop will look to key on slowing down Denver Lauer through three games and try to overcome Upstate with a series win.
Winthrop: Freshman Pitcher and Utility Player, Katie Beck has made an immediate impact for the Eagles being third on the team with a .311 batting average while adding 28 hits, six doubles, eight home runs, 18 runs scored, and 27 Runs batted in. During the week of March 4, Katie Beck was named Big South Freshman of the Week following her performance at the Winthrop Eagle Classic going 7-for-12 at the plate with four runs, two doubles, three home runs, and a nine RBI week. Upstate will have to slow down Katie Beck through the series as she can be seen as an X-Factor.

Following the weekend series against Winthrop, Upstate Softball will travel to Athens, Georgia for a non-conference matchup against SEC Opponent, University of Georgia on Wednesday, April 9th beginning at 6:00 P.M.
