SPARTANBURG, S.C. - With the first round of Big South Player of the Week awards for the 2025-26 year with Men's Soccer, Lucas Bergfors was featured in the first round of weekly awards being named the Big South Freshman of the Week.
The Freshman from Nyköping, Sweden made his name known quickly with Spartan Army where he made his debut for Upstate Men's Soccer in the season opener on Thursday, August 21st against Georgia State. In the 2-2 draw, Bergfors was responsible for both scores assisting the first goal to Oscar Kelly in the first half followed by game-clinching goal in the second half. Lucas Bergfors started in both matches for Upstate Men's Soccer with one goal, one assist, and three points with a 1.000 shot percentage. In the system of Michael Antoniewicz, Bergfors can continue growing and finding his footing with the program while improving each time he takes the pitch. Lucas Bergfors will continue to be a player to watch on many scouting reports as he adds versatility to the Upstate lineup and now adds his first collegiate weekly honor.
