CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Starting a new season by doing something it did twice last year and capturing something it did in 10 of 11 weeks last season, USC Upstate volleyball sees three Spartans earn Big South weekly honors in the campaign's first selections. Ady O'Grady, Kamyla Vega David, and Summer Kohler earned Big South Player, Setter, and Freshman of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
O'Grady, a Hilton Head Island, S.C. native, led all Big South players in kills per set, points per set, and hitting efficiency, posting totals of 3.40 kills per set and 4.25 points per set while hitting .542. She hit greater than .440 in all three matches at the Rumble at the Roane, reaching double-digit terminations in each match. She also chipped in nine total blocks, twice registering a career-high-tying two solo blocks, to complement six digs, two service aces, and one assist.
 
A native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, Vega David paced all conference setters with 95 total assists, surpassing the 30-assist threshold in all three matches—the lone league player to hit the mark thrice. She's the lone player in the Big South to record 30-plus assists in a three-set match, doing so in a pair of Upstate sweeps. Vega David also tallied 20 digs, recording her 20^th career double-double in the season opener at Memphis, while posting eight kills, four service aces, and one total block.
 
Hailing from North Port, Fla., Kohler made the most of her first collegiate action, becoming the first true freshman Spartan with double-digit kills in her debut since 2016, totaling 34 kills (3.09 per set) across three matches. She ranked second in the Big South in kills and points (3.64) per set last week, trailing just O'Grady among league players. She supplemented her scoring with 11 digs, five service aces, two assists, and two total blocks.
