Lucas Bergfors tacks on his third collegiate goal; Furman’s offensive firepower strikes past Upstate

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Entering the final day of September, Upstate Men's Soccer continued their two-game road trip taking on No. 25 Furman University in a Tuesday night non-conference showdown where the Paladins were able to use their offensive firepower to move past the Spartans with a 6-1 final.

Opening the first half, the Paladins looked to start fast against Upstate with a throw in resulting in a goal from a header taking the early lead at the 5th minute. Justin Vallejo looked to make the most out of his opportunity taking a shot on frame going wide left. As the half grew, the Paladins added the following two goals within three minutes apart pushing their lead to 3-0. With the advantage staying on Furman's side, a corner kick followed by the chip shot pushed a 4-0 lead at the 32nd minute. However, the Spartans did not shy away from attacking as Lucas Bergfors sprinted past the defenders putting Upstate in the scoring column with his third goal of the season.
