Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer battles it out with College of Charleston on the road; late second half goal prevails the Cougars past the Spartans

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Taking the pitch for the first time since Labor Day, Upstate Men's Soccer began their two-game road trip with a Tuesday night matchup with the College of Charleston where the two opponents battled it out for 90 minutes with the Cougars ultimately surpassing the Spartans with a successful penalty kick at the 70th minute holding on for a 1-0 final score. 

Through the first 45 minutes, College of Charleston looked to take the early momentum with multiple shots on goal , but Jarrett Wuerslin kept the Cougars scoreless. As the second half commenced, Lucas Bergfors and Oskar Kaufmann took early shots to take the lead , but both shots were off target. With Upstate and the College of Charleston continuing to battle it out, a foul in the box gave the Cougars an opportunity for a penalty kick. At the 70th minute, the Cougars took the lead successfully converting on the attempt. Upstate looked to find their way back with a tie taking two shots on goal but the Cougars stayed firm with two key saves holding on for the 1-0 win.
