Bill Burrows is in his fourth year as an assistant coach withthe men's basketball program at USC Upstate.
Burrows is a veteran of the bench with over 30 years as a headcoach on the high school level in North Carolina and as anassistant on the NCAA Division I level at Georgia Tech and TowsonState.
Burrows got his head coaching start at T.C. Roberson High Schoolbefore moving on to coach former NBA and University of NorthCarolina great Brad Daugherty and NFL quarterback Brad Johnson atCharles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain. He also had headcoaching stints at Clyde A. Erwin High School and Madison HighSchool.
Burrows was an assistant coach on the collegiate level atGeorgia Tech from 1983-84 and Towson State from 1987-88. While atGeorgia Tech, he helped coach the Yellow Jackets to an 18-11 recordand an NIT bid with Ramblin' Wreck greats Mark Price and JohnSalley. At Towson State, he assisted in coaching the team to asecond-place finish in the East Coast Conference.
In addition to his coaching experience on the high school andcollegiate level, Burrows has a wealth of experience runningbasketball camps. He owned and operated The Basketball Camp inGrayson, Ky., for 16 years, has been the camp director for severalsummer youth camps, was the camp director for high school teamcamps for 24 years, and directed basketball camps in France andLuxembourg.
A native of Western North Carolina, Burrows is a 1969 graduateof Mars Hill with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Hereceived a master's degree in School Administration from WesternCarolina in 1992.
Burrows and his wife, Kathy, were married on Sept. 1, 2007 andlive in Spartanburg.
