
Head Coach Marty Richter announces Ries Naugle as the next piece to the 2026-27 Men’s Basketball Signing Class

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Continuing to build for the 2026-27 season, Head Coach Marty Richter announces Ries Naugle to the signing class ahead of the brewing season. Naugle comes to Upstate after an impactful Redshirt Freshman season at NCAA Division II, Bloomsburg University.
Naugle led the Huskies in scoring averaging 11.9 points a game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc. Naugle added an 84 percent clip from the charity stripe and added contributions on the defensive side with one block and steal a game. His ability to score and IQ for the game will add to Marty Richter's system for the love of the game while having an offense that can help scorers get a bucket. Naugle's will to score displayed during his high school days at Selinsgrove High School (Pa.), averaging 21.3 points a game during his senior year.
Head Coach, Marty Richter expressed his excitement to have Naugle on the roster and how he can contribute to the program. "We are all excited that Ries has committed to joining the Spartan family". Richter also mentioned, "He brings not only a high-level ability to score the ball but is also a high-level student and young man! We look forward to seeing him grow beginning when he arrives on campus this summer."
Ries Naugle will have a chance to continue his legacy on a bigger stage at USC Upstate while developing his game on the court. Naugle's addition under Marty Richter will also display his growth as a student in the classroom along with growing more as a character. Ries Naugle will begin his new journey as he prepares to transition in the summer and take another step in his career.
