Final Stats

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Both senior Venezuelans Anna Novo and Daniela Lovera moved closer to milestone wins on Saturday afternoon, as the USC Upstate women's tennis team made quick work of Alabama State in non-conference action, posting a 7-0 win and losing just three games during the entire match.

Novo started off the match by winning her 63rd career doubles match, tying Susana Hernandez (2004-08) for second in the all-time record book, one win shy of Diana Martinez's school-record of 64 set from 2004-08. Made even more impressive, Novo and sophomore partner Emilia Milovanovic posted an 8-0 win over Sheneice Rawlins and Safiya Taylor.

The other doubles teams also posted 8-0 sweeps with freshman Angie Solorzano and junior Carolina Bello winning at No. 2 and Lovera and freshman Cinthya Lozaro winning at No. 3.

The doubles win gives Lovera 98 combined (singles and doubles) wins in her career, leaving her just two shy of becoming the fourth player in school history to reach 100 career wins.

In singles play, Novo notched a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Rawlins at No. 1; Milovanovic posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Taylor at No. 2; Lazaro double-bageled Hunter, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3; Solorzano defeated Williams, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4; Neuenschwander beat Fleming, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Camberos added a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dunn at No. 6.

The Spartans will now take two weeks off before getting back in action on Valentine's Day, Saturday, Feb. 14, when they travel to Charleston Southern for a 1 p.m. match.
