No. 72 Upstate Wins 14th Straight With 4-3 Win Over Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Juniors Javier Tori and Jack Roux paced the USC Upstate men's tennis team's lineup on Saturday afternoon, as their two-set wins moved each into a tie for fourth in school history at 52 career wins and helped propel Upstate to its 14th straight win with a 4-3 decision over Atlantic Sun Conference foe Campbell at the Nesbit Tennis Center.

Upstate (16-2 overall, 4-0 A-Sun) sprinted out front by sweeping the doubles point from Campbell (10-6 overall, 2-2 A-Sun). At No. 1, Tori and junior Renzo Airaldi posted an 8-2 win over Lubos Sobotka and Davy Sum and freshmen Edgar Rodriguez and Ramiro Blanco adding an 8-3 win over Loukas Wallaart and Ian Kahler at No. 3. Roux and senior Leandro Osorio rounded out the point with an 8-4 win over Beto Mondini and Larbi Lamzouri.

Roux posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mondini at No. 4 singles and Blanco posted his 16th straight win with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Wallaart at No. 5 to take a 3-0 lead. After a loss at No. 6, the Spartans clinched the match with Tori's 7-6 (6), 6-2 win at No. 3 over Sobotka. The Camels posted two wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to close out the match, taking a super-set tiebreaker and a three-set match.

The Spartans get back in action on Tuesday when they head to Kennesaw State for a 1 p.m. A-Sun match to make up a postponed match from March 15.
