Blanco Named to ASUN Men’s Tennis All-Decade Team

ATLANTA, Ga. –
The ASUN Conference announced the Men's Tennis 2010-2019 All-Decade Team and USC Upstate alum Ramiro Blanco (Chascomus, Argentina) earned a spot on the list.
 
Blanco played for the Spartans from 2009-2012 and over time became one of the most dominant players in program history. Blanco earned First Team All-ASUN honors in 2011 and 2012, while notching a pair of Second Team All-ASUN honors in 2009-2010. A member of the All-Freshmen Team in 2009, Blanco was four-time ASUN Player of the Week.
 
In 2009, Blanco went a perfect 23-0 in singles action, becoming the first player in school history to achieve a perfect season. As a result he also set the longest winning streak in program history, and his 23 wins are the fourth most in a single season at USC Upstate.
 
Blanco finished his career with an overall singles record of 67-17, his 67 victories place him third on the all-time wins list behind Javier Tori and Jack Roux. Blanco's .798 winning-percentage is the best in school history. In double's action, the native of Argentina ranks fourth all-time with a record of 59-23. Blanco joins Tori as the only players in program history to achieve a winning-percentage of .720 or higher in both singles and doubles action.
 
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections (Singles), four All-Conference selections (Singles) or multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year honors. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman/Scholar-Athlete of the Year or three All-Conference selections (Singles).
 
USC Upstate was a member of the ASUN Conference from 2007-18. The Spartans joined the Big South Conference on July 1, 2018.
