Men’s Tennis: Spartans Fall to Chattanooga

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

"We got off to a great start in doubles today, our most complete doubles of the year for sure." USC Upstate head tennis coach Tim McLane said, "In singles action I thought we competed well and we did a nice job of trying to get to our patterns and run the plays we like. At the end of the day we got outplayed by a better team."

In doubles action the Spartans got out to a hot start as the No. 3 doubles tandem of Fernando Bernardes and Tom Russwurm defeated the Chattanooga tandem of Jeffrey Dewald and Turner Voges 6-0. After a short mishap at the No. 2 doubles court the Spartans top duo of Leon Roider and Frederick Sydow came through with a 6-4 doubles win to clinch the doubles point.

In singles action the Mocs got the better of the Spartans as they won on every court.
