SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Senior Leandro Osorio and junior Javier Tori each got a little closer to a school record and the USC Upstate men's tennis team won its 17th straight match to move within one of the school record as it posted a 7-0 win over North Florida in Atlantic Sun Conference action at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Monday afternoon.

The 71st-ranked Spartans (19-2 overall, 7-0 A-Sun) are also just one win shy of the school record of 18 straight wins set by the 2003 Peach Belt Conference Championship team, getting the chance to tie the record on Tuesday when they head to Presbyterian for a 3 p.m. non-conference match. The Ospreys fall to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the Atlantic Sun.

Tori moved within shouting distance of a couple school records, as he moved into a tie for second in school history with 55 singles wins, just two behind the school-record of 57 set by Jorge Ventura from 1994-97. His 116 career combined wins (singles and doubles) is just three behind the school record of 119 set by Dumitrescu. Senior Leandro Osorio moved within two doubles wins of the school-record of 71 set by Stefan Dumitrescu from 2003-07 and, with his singles and doubles wins, he moved into a tie with Tori for second in career combined wins at 116. Meanwhile, junior Jack Roux is just one singles win (54) behind Tori.

Upstate picked up the doubles point by splitting the matches, as Osorio and Roux posted an 8-4 win over Marcos Chiaretti and Kurt Gattiker at No. 2 and freshmen Edgar Rodriguez and Ramiro Blanco added an identical 8-4 win at No. 3 against Graham Edgar and Ronnie Sang.

In singles play, junior Renzo Airaldi posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sang at No. 2, Roux added a 6-2, 6-1 win over Edgar at No. 4 and Blanco won his 19th straight match with a 6-1, 6-4 over Marc Misanovic' at No. 5 to clinch the match. Rodriguez added a 7-6 (5), 5-7, 10-8 super tie-break win over Federico Levi at No. 1 and Tori notched a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win over Chiaretti at No. 3. Osorio wrapped up the match with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 win over Gattiker to move closer to Dumitrescu's school record.
