Upstate Ends Whirlwind 8 Days With Home Games Against Campbell, Radford

Spartanburg, S.C. - Playing four games in eight days, including two games against stiff competition at Indiana State and No. 10 Ohio State, USC Upstate returns to the court Thursday evening when it plays host to A-Sun rival Campbell at 5:30 in the Hodge Center. The Spartans will put an end to the first semester with a non-conference game against Radford at 4:30, also in the Hodge. The games are the first back-to-back home games of the season for the Spartans.

Upstate enters the weekend with a 3-4 overall record and 1-0 mark in the A-Sun. The Spartans are on a two-game losing streak which followed a two-game winning streak. They opened A-Sun play against ETSU on Dec. 4 in the team's home opener in the newly renovated Hodge Center and took a 78-70 victory. Campbell will play its A-Sun opener Thursday evening against Upstate. The Lady Camels are 1-6 overall on the year, taking down North Carolina Central, 67-61, on Dec. 14. Radford stands 3-6 overall and 0-0 in the Big South. The Highlanders split their last two games, taking a 71-39 win over Southern Virginia on Dec. 9 and losing at UNC Greensboro on Dec. 11.

Copney First Spartan To Dish Out 10 Assists In Division I Era
When Tee'Ara Copney dished out 10 assists at Indiana State on Dec. 12, she not only set a career high, she also did something that no other Spartan has done in almost three years. No Spartan has dished out 10 or more assists since Courtney Bradley tallied 11 assists against North Georgia on Jan. 7, 2007. The 10 assists are the most in a single-game in the Division I era.

Spartans Looks To Stay Perfect In A-Sun
After opening A-Sun play with a 78-70 victory over ETSU on Dec. 4, Upstate looks to stay undefeated in conference play and take a 2-0 record into the holiday break. Upstate began last season 0-2 with losses at Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, but rallied to finish third in the A-Sun by the end of the season.

McMillan Tops 600 Career Rebounds
With eight rebounds at Indiana State last Sunday, senior Chelsea McMillan topped the 600 career rebound plateau at Upstate. She now has 611 career rebounds in three years in the program.

Spartans Shine In Hodge Center Re-Opener
After the completion of the $4 million renovation to the Hodge Center and playing its first four games on the road, Upstate made the most of its home opener and its first in the newly renovated facility by taking a 78-70 victory over East Tennessee State on Dec. 4.

Upstate Among A-Sun Leaders
Upstate ranks among the A-Sun leaders in several statistical categories, topping the conference in rebounding (42.6 rpg), offensive rebounds (15.7 orpg), defensive rebounds (26.9 drpg) and blocked shots (4.3 bog). In all, the Spartans rank in the top four in nine categories for the year.

McMillan Tops 800 Career Points
Playing in her third and final season at Upstate (she played her freshman season at Sante Fe Community College in Florida), senior Chelsea McMillan topped the 800-point plateau with 20 points at Presbyterian (Dec. 2). Follwoing her 20-point outing against ETSU (Dec. 4) and combining for 27 points at Indiana State (Dec. 12) and Ohio State (Dec. 14), she now has 865 points in her two-plus years playing for the Spartans.

Spartans Top The A-Sun In Several Stat Categories
Individually, Upstate players rank among the A-Sun leaders in several statistical categories, including topping the league in four categories. Tee'Ara Copney tops the league with 5.1 assists per game. Moving to the point guard spot this season, Copney's league-leading assists average is even more impressive. Chelsea McMillan tops the A-Sun with 10.6 rebounds per game, 6.6 defensive rebounds per outing, and 2.1 blocks per game.

Campbell At A Glance
Campbell enters Thursday night's game at Upstate with a 1-7 overall record following its 67-61 victory over North Carolina Central on Dec. 14 in Buies Creek. The Lady Camels have yet to play an A-Sun game and the contest at the Spartans will be their conference opener.

Prior to the win against N.C. Central, Campbell had lost its first seven games of the season, losing away from home to Longwood, Appalachian State, Wofford and Coastal Carolina, while losing at home to UNC Asheville, High Point and UNC Wilmington.

Veteran head coach Wanda Watkins has 448 career wins in 30 years at the helm of the Campbell program. She has Lady Camel club that averages 65.1 points per game while allowing 74.2 points a contest. They shoot 38 percent from the field, 36 percent from the three-point arc and 66 percent from the free throw line. They have dished out 119 assists and picked 71 steals on the year.

Tonisha Baker leads Campbell in scoring at 10.6 points per game. She is the only Lady Camel to average in double figures. She shoots 48 percent from the floor and has made 10-of-20 from the three-point arc. She averages 5.3 rebounds per outing, third on the team. Lauren Yesh ranks second on the team at 9.1 ppg and tops the club with 6.0 rebounds per outing. Jazmine Cooper ranks third in scoring at 8.6 ppg and second in rebounding at 5.8 rpg. Kate Cloxton has been solid, leading the team with 38 assists on the year, while averaging six points a game.

Radford At A Glance
Radford enters Saturday's game at Upstate with a 3-6 overall record. The Highlanders opened the season with a 2-2 record, but have lost four of the last five games, including a 73-58 loss at UNC Greensboro on Dec. 11.

Radford opened the season with a win over Ferrum and have claimed an additional home win against Southern Virginia. The Highlanders won on the road at George Mason. They have dropped road contests to Howard, Pittsburg, Davidson, Virginia and UNC Greensboro.

Tajama Abraham Ngongba is in the third season at the helm of the Radford program. The Highlanders average 56 points a game and allows opponents to score nearly 60 a contest. They shoot 37 percent from the field, 32 percent from the three-point arc and 66 percent from the free throw line. They have picked 107 steals on the year.

Da'Naria Erwin Spencer leads Radford in scoring at 13.1 points per game. She also tops the club with 25 assists, 22 steals and a 46.7 three-point shooting percentage. Denay Wood ranks second on the team in scoring at nine points a game and is third in rebounding at 4.0 rebounds per outing. Brooke McElroy tops the club at 6.8 rebounds per game and is third in scoring at 6.5 ppg. She also ranks second with 20 steals.
